HPHS PTAThe PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is an active organization that includes a large percentage of the students’ families. The PTA meets in the HPHS small auditorium, on the third Wednesday of the month, at 11:15 a.m., beginning in September. The PTA operates the school cafeteria and coordinates a variety of activities including College Night, Spring and Fall Open Houses, the Jr.-Sr. Prom, senior activities surrounding graduation, and the distribution of the PTA monthly newsletter, HiPoints. The HPHS PTA is open to all parents. DAD’S CLUBThe function of the HPHS DAD’S Club is to communicate school and district events to HPHS Dads. This is usually done through fall and spring breakfast meetings featuring the Superintendent and the HPHS Principal. Money raised through dues benefits HPHS. BOOSTER CLUBSThe Booster Clubs support the activities of special interest groups including the various sports, choral music, orchestra and drama. For more information, contact the sponsor of your student’s special interest organization. VOLUNTEERSCentral High School offers unique opportunities for parents to become involved in student life. For more information contact the PTA. CAFETERIA — Volunteers are needed to work one day each month in the school cafeteria in various capacities from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. TEACHER WORKROOM — Volunteers are needed to work one day each month in the Teacher Workroom, open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Volunteers work together in groups of four, doing a myriad of tasks that range from cut and paste to computer work. This once-a-month commitment frees the teachers from many time-consuming tasks. All that is required is a willingness to help. SCHOOL STORE — Volunteers are needed to work one day each month in the Student Supply Room during lunch from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. COMMUNITY SERVICE ROOM — Volunteers are needed to work one day each month in the Community Service Room from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, as well as to establish contact with local agencies who can provide service opportunities for students. GUIDANCE OFFICE — The Parent Communication Committee staffs the guidance office with parent volunteers several days a week. The volunteers organize the college library, assist parents and students, answer phones, and assist with clerical duties. |
